Very good stay

We’ve just finished our fourth stay at Sunshine Hotel, and once again it reminded us why we keep coming back year after year. While the location is perfect—just a couple of minutes’ walk from both the beach and the restaurants in the heart of Matala—what truly makes this place special is the family who run it. The grandmother (see photo below in black and white), in particular, is one of the kindest, warmest and most generous people we’ve ever met. She welcomes every guest with genuine care and makes you feel less like a visitor and more like part of the family. It’s rare to find such heartfelt hospitality, and it’s the main reason we return every year. The rooms are always spotless, comfortable and beautifully maintained, with everything cleaned and refreshed daily. It’s simple, peaceful accommodation that has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Matala itself is a wonderful escape from busy city life—a place where you can slow down, breathe and simply enjoy the moment. The sunsets are some of the most breathtaking we’ve ever seen, and being able to walk just a few minutes from the hotel to the beach each evening to watch the sun disappear into the sea is something we’ll never tire of. Thank you to the whole family for making every stay feel so special. Sunshine Hotel has become much more than just somewhere to sleep—it feels like coming home. We already can’t wait to return.

This is an amazing hotel. I had a lovely, bright and pleasant room. The hotel is family run and I felt very warmly welcomed and hosted here.

Wonderful with 2 sweet hostesses

We rented a suite for two nights. It was clean, but had an unpleasant musty smell. However, the street is extremely noisy, with music every night (a band singing at the bottom of the street where the hotel is located) until at least 2 a.m. at a very loud volume. If you want peace and quiet, don't rent a room there.

This hotel has a lot going for it! First and foremost: the staff. They were incredibly nice, incredibly friendly, and very welcoming. As for the room, it was spotless. With a mini fridge, full shower, hangers in the closet, and room for our things, my wife and I felt very comfortable and got some good sleep. The street noise was minimal - although the neighborhood dogs like to alert each other about tourists in the morning! The hotel is very close to the beach, shops, tavernas and the path to Red Beach. I would recommend Hotel Sunshine to anyone looking for an affordable and comfortable stay with friendly people!

We've been coming for two years now. Everything is always very pleasant. The hotel is very well located, quiet yet close to everything. The atmosphere is family-friendly, with the owner always so helpful. The Ethis room is superb, with a lovely terrace. Everything is perfect. I highly recommend it, and we'll definitely be back. The charm of Matala...
